TMDb API Key Required

To use the Content Deep Dive addon, you need to provide your own TMDb API key. This key is required to fetch detailed movie and TV show information.

Why do I need my own API key?

TMDb has rate limits on their API. By using your own key, you get your own quota of requests, ensuring the addon works reliably for everyone.

How to get a free TMDb API key:

  1. 1

Go to TMDb Sign Up page and create a free account

  2. 2

Once logged in, go to your API settings page

  3. 3

Click on "Request an API key" and select "Developer" option

  4. 4

Fill out the form with your details (you can use "Content Deep Dive Companion" as the application name)

  5. 5

Copy your API key (v3 auth) and add it to your settings in the addon

Free and Easy

TMDb offers free API keys with a generous limit of 1,000 requests per day, which is more than enough for personal use.

Optional: OMDb API Key

While not required, you can also add an OMDb API key for enhanced metadata and film reviews (IMDb score, Metacritic, Rotten Tomatoes).

  1. 1
  2. 2
